Kissing the World is a third-person, action/RPG/robot game where you play as Kyousuke, a teenager who finds his world turned upside down one day. After waking up and realizing that he’s dead, Kyousuke is transferred to another world, where he’s informed by a handsome robot assistant that he’s an “Immortal”. In this game, you travel through time, exploring a plethora of game locations inspired by various pop culture titans such as Mickey Mouse, Lara Croft, Woody Allen, M. Night Shyamalan, and many more. Collect a growing number of artifacts to progress through the game; unlock missions, bonus chapters and more.

Discovery:
The game takes place in the “Future”, a year and a half in the future where “Immortals” have a large following in the media and the real world. They perform in an annual event called the “Disco Magical” that is held in a domed city center called “Kissing the World”. Kyousuke is living together with two Immortals, named “Alice” and “Bart”, in a small house in suburban Tokyo. When a strange phenomenon occurs at the Disco Magical, the duo are sent back in time to the “Golden Age” of the 1960’s, where they meet this culture’s most famous people.

A different experience with a different challenge

Frederic is a comedy-mystery of a thriller game. You play as Ernest, a depressed caucasian cellist. You are hired to play in a concert for a renown novelist named Aimée. When you awake in the novel’s bedroom after you fall asleep on the living room couch, you find Aimée missing, as she is having a telepathic conversation with a disturbed bird named Legion. Legion reveals that someone killed Aimée and is currently torturing and killing creatures from the Green Valley, trying to find her. Ernest agrees to play at the concert in return for money, and with aim to clear his debt, you play the concert in order to find the murderer. The game has two different difficulty settings, based on you reading up on two different novel’s endings:

Difficulty 1: The “good ending” – There is no music made by the haunting bird Legion in this ending (in the game). You simply find Aimée’s body, call the police and inform everyone that it turns out that Aimée killed herself.

Difficulty 2: The “bad ending” – In this ending, the haunting bird Legion makes it’s presence known, and everyone suspects that aimée might not be dead. Your main purpose is to find the person who beat you up at the beginning of the game, and discover why Aimée wants to kill herself. Aimée states that she committed suicide last week due to her well-over-concern for her work. Your purpose in investigating is to prevent the fatal news to spread, and hopefully, to learn why Aimée really wanted to kill herself.

It’s quite pleasant to finally have this released in NTSC, not that it took a heck of a while, but they did well to make it. I would like to have seen these ports made, like, a bit more, but I’m not complaining. I am slightly dismayed, though, that they got the GameCube’s motion plus feature, but didn’t use it. The lack of Wii motion plus kind of goes against the “standard” Plus games of the system.

Hopefully this one turns out to be as well done as the GameCube version was.
