I’m using JPA/Hibernate, Hibernate-specific APIs and code, and hibernate-specific SQL (as required by some of my business logic). All of these are backed by a MySQL database, which I also use with Informix Dynamic Server on a windows platform.
I’m starting to get used to the intricacies of working with Hibernate and all of the JPA-related dependencies, etc. but I’m having a hard time coming up with the best architecture for writing queries.
One thing I’m not sure of is how to write queries to a Hibernate DAO, when the DAO is interacting with two different JPA implementations.
Say I have two JPA implementations, say HibernateJPA and OpenJPA. Each is configured to a separate database. Now suppose my DAO is interacting with the databases using HibernateJPA. How do I write a query such as this:

Assuming MyTable is a JPA entity mapped to a table in a database. And the query parameter is the table’s name.
I guess I could just have the DAO call OpenJPA’s andHQL() to get the query, and then somehow translate the query into HQL. But I was wondering if there is a more elegant way.
I have a feeling I’m missing something obvious here, so if anybody could point me in the right direction, I’d be very grateful.
