Another day, another new free game!
So today the lovely Desert Star has an exclusive beta invitation for us. And for me, it’s a little different. Normally I would do a review of the game itself, but this time I’ll be going over my thoughts on the crafting aspect and how it works.

CONSTRUCTION SITES

When the game begins, you’ll have the option to choose whether you want to build your settlement in a traditional fantasy world, a zombie survival world or a medieval construction world.

I decided to go with the last one, in honor of my love for medieval games, but you can also choose from the other two.

When I choose the medieval one, I’ll be presented with a screen in which I can choose the building kind. There are three different kinds of buildings that you can place: a post, a small house and a large building.

My first choice was “Small House”, which will give me the ability to build up to 3 small houses, out of which one will be kept in my party at all times.

The second one was “Post”.

“Post” will build up to 1 wooden post, which will increase the maximum amount of players in my game to 4.

The last one was “Large Building”.

The maximum amount of players that can build a large building will be increased to 8, and it will be a nice place to rest after long journeys and fights.

I’ve also decided to take part in the beta, so I can be sure of its polish at launch, and right now I can’t say anything about that, even if I think it’s very well polished.

WHY A VIABLE CRAFT SYSTEM?

While I would have liked to make it possible to build up a fortress from the start and never leave the final screen, there are various reasons why I didn’t want to make it that way.

First of all, I’m a big believer in letting players play the game as they wish. If they want to build everything from the beginning and never have to do anything afterwards, I don’t want to force them to if they can’t be bothered.
