Brushes
Brushes work just like the other tools in Photoshop. You position the cursor over the image area and then click and drag to the area you want to retouch.

Brushes can be filled with color or they can be used like a virtual eraser to remove objects.
To see which brush you are using, you will notice a small “brush outline” over the image.
The next steps describe some of the most common brushes that you will use to edit images.
In the Brush Window (Window/Brush), you can see the size of the brush, its texture (its pattern, as it is technically referred to), the color it is painted with, its opacity (how opaque or transparent the brush is), and the size of the brush outline (your brush’s brush size).
You can control the size, color, and opacity of each brush by clicking on one of these attributes and moving the slider left or right.
