What’s new in Elden Ring:
These images capture the work we’ve been doing for Elden Storm Lancer over the past couple of months. It certainly isn’t over yet, the final sprint is scheduled to begin on Feb 1st 2017.
We’re slightly ahead of schedule compared to our original plans, and the rush of work has been busy and exhausting.
Greetings Champions of Cyruir, and welcome to our latest dev blog update!
Some time ago we made the decision to customize the landscape in more depth than we had previously done for Rise of the Elden.
Customizing the maps in the background, character detail, and atmosphere was a welcome change but we didn’t want to stop there.
Additionally we took the opportunity to personally tailor a handful of maps. The reasons behind this were very simple.
Soon more types of environments will be available to play in Sandbox, but there is a negative flip side to this.
Not all of us have the time to play all of them and not all of us want to play most of them.
This past year of development focused mostly on pacing the game. As we’ve started to talk about time management during world generation, we had become more clear on how time worked in the creative process and started to focus on more of that feedback. Here’s a small math we did internally, based on team size of 4. 5:

From this, we’ve used some math to describe our development schedule and we’re happy to say that it’s much more accurate than our estimates. The current target for world generation to have the most advanced state of being is estimated at this:
With 36 hours per day, 4 people, and 6 hours per day, we’ll have 72 hours per week, or 48 days per month. At that rate, with a 5:1 scaling, we’ll have 1672 hours per year, which is admittedly a lot of hours.
A disclaimer. This schedule is estimated, but with 3.2 hours per day time is the only thing that concerns us.
In order to get to this point we’re divided into 4 groups all working in a parallel fashion.
