I have the FN SCAR and it’s an ok piece. But I have had it for about 4 years and it seems it’s starting to “seize up” on me. It’ll turn on, but it’s like the first time I turned it on and it’ll stay like that for a while and then the motor will suddenly turn on. I’m not happy about buying a used gun, but I just have had this problem a few times and I am not going to pay to have it fixed so I may just need a good pre-owned SCAR for a good price.

After reading the comments about this gun, I think I will just hand it over to any military surplus store I can find for a fair price. Just a heads up, an FN SCAR will weight about 4.5 – 5.5 lbs so you will have to add the scabbard as well as a grip and real/fake pistol.

But I will hand it over if it’s a decent price. I’m looking to buy one and just might do that.

What’s New In?

The Uniden BearCat or UBC series of scanners is a simple, small, low-cost scanner that you can install in the back of a patrol car, or set up along any of the streets. This scanner gives police departments access to real-time police radio. Other scanners might cost you upwards of $1000, but the BearCat scanner and adaptor parts are much less than that. The scanner has two modes of operation. In one mode the scanner only returns one channel, and in the other mode it returns all 22 channels. To get channels 1-8, press the scanner on for up to four seconds and then press the spacebar to select the next channel. By pressing on/off the scanner will switch to a different channel. The scanner’s controls are simple and easy to use. The on/off switch and the scan button are located on the side of the scanner. When the scanner is on, push the scan button to scan through all 22 channels of real-time police radio traffic.
The other mode of operation is channel selection. To access this mode of operation press on, down and the right arrow until the channel with the desired frequency is displayed. It will be in grey in the display, indicating it is not currently scanning. Press on again to select the channel and scan. To stop the scan press the spacebar or the off/spacebar combination.
When the scanner is connected to a computer, you can look up police frequencies to see which channels are used by local police. To find a frequency (by channel number) search for “CF” or “CW” (checked frequencies) or “CF” and scroll down to the correct frequency. You can then determine whether it is a checked frequency or not by pressing on the selected frequency. Pressing on will make the frequency red, and a red frequency is an unchecked frequency. If a frequency is red, then you will be able to listen to it over the network to determine whether the channel is used by local police, or is meant for general usage. This is a great way to figure out if you can tune in to a frequency that you can not otherwise listen to.
The scanner will sound it’s default ‘INDIGO’ alert tone when a band that you are scanning is identified.
Check the menu option ‘Alerts’ to determine if you can toggle alerts (toggling alerts turns off the sound of the default alert tone and turns on other alert tones). For example, most agencies do not have federal/state/local
