Lightroom
Lightroom is Adobe’s new photo-management program that came out in the fall of 2013. Lightroom has a new look and workflow built from the ground up. It is a cross between Bridge, the company’s previous image-management program, and Photoshop. Some users have called Lightroom the new Photoshop. It has the full Photoshop image-editing features, but it is a bit more streamlined for creating and managing images.
The best feature of Lightroom is its user interface. It feels intuitive and similar to using a digital camera. It has a design that makes it easy to use for new photographers and advanced users alike.
I talk more about the differences in the sections that follow.
Using Lightroom
The main screen in Lightroom is called the Library. You access the Library by selecting it from the top left of the screen, as shown in Figure 2-1. The Library has a navigation ribbon at the top.

In the Library, you manage images that you’ve imported into Lightroom. You can create new images, add adjustments, and perform other image-related tasks. You can also share images on Lightroom’s Web site and select to sync the images to your computer.
Note that some of the terms for files in this book are Lightroom and Photoshop terms. This is not intended to be confusing. If you’re a person who’s using the Photoshop program, just remember that the terms you use to identify files in Lightroom are the same as they are in Photoshop.
Importing photos into Lightroom
Just as you have to import photos into Photoshop, you have to import images into Lightroom. You can use both the Adobe Camera Raw Converter and Photoshop’s own import feature for importing images.
The process of importing an image into Lightroom works the same way whether you import it from a computer, camera, or scanner. You select one of the methods that works best for your photos. Figure 2-2 shows the Import dialog box.

Why Use Photoshop?
Photoshop has been the standard tool for most skilled graphic designers and photographers for the last three decades. In this time, Photoshop has continued to evolve and today it has numerous useful features not available in other graphic software.
The only thing holding Photoshop back from taking over the world is that the app is extremely expensive. Although you can pay hundreds or even thousands for Photoshop, it is much cheaper than any other alternative. Plus, you don’t need to learn tons of complex tools and techniques like any other designer.
It also features a user-friendly interface that’s easy to use.
How to Create a Stock Photo?
Creating a stock photo is easy, once you have the right program. Photoshop lets you add doodles, have fun with text, create professional photos in any type of lighting condition, and more.
For now, we’ll start by installing Adobe Photoshop. This is a portable program that lets you work on images from any kind of device.
Open the software and create a new file. The next step is to use the toolbox to find your favorite setting.
The first thing you need to do is set up a canvas size of the desired file size. You can also create a new canvas in Adobe Photoshop Elements, but it takes longer. You can always re-size your photo later.
Once you’re done with the canvas size, you can finally start adding some objects. Photoshop Elements and Photoshop’s function library is huge. You can use nearly any tool to do what you want. In this case, we’ll use the Pen tool for adding details.
Next, set the Pen tool as the selection tool, and then go to Object > Expand from selection. You can now add a line, doodle, or touch up the image.
How to Design a Website?
Adobe Photoshop is the most powerful application for designing a website. It’s the only software you need to create every element of a website. What does that mean?
You’ll be able to add color, change fonts, use filters, add shadows and more.
First, open Adobe Photoshop. Next, create a new file. Select the desired color. Create a new layer, and use that color for the background.

Those in the know say: The season is almost over and the time is approaching for the crowning of a new prince or princess of the baseball season.
To get into the spirit, I am going to share some behind-the-scenes video of what goes on during the closing stages of the season.
Last weekend, I had the chance to visit the final homestand of the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. The Tigers, who had 13 players from the 2012 and 2013 World Series championship team not only hit the home field, they hit the road.
After their 6-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox, the Tigers finished the season going 14-9 (.611) on the road. They were 6-7 (.429) at home.
An amazing accomplishment is that the Tigers are now above.500 for the first time since 2004, when they finished at 89-73 (.541) overall. They are currently fifth in the AL Central and remain in contention for the American League pennant.
On Wednesday, the Tigers were eliminated from the playoffs. If the players play well and the Orioles do not, the Tigers play the New York Yankees in the first round of the playoffs. If the Tigers win, they meet the winner of the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians.
The final homestand for the Tigers is over.
On Saturday, I had the opportunity to look at video of some of the top games from 2013.

**Inkjet Printing**
Adobe Photoshop’s Inkjet Printing feature allows you to print directly from a digital image or web page. There are two ways to use this feature. First, you can create a file that contains only the image you want to print, and then drag the new file into the printing application that you use. Second, you can load a page or document into the software, but turn off the computer. When you turn on the computer again, Photoshop will print the entire page or document.
In Photoshop Elements, this feature prints to a PDF file that you can open with Preview or other PDF-reading software.
In all cases, you can save a Photoshop file that contains the image and printer information. Printing software will read this file, which it may cache and then use automatically to print the image.
If you want to change anything about the image before you print it, you must use the Adjustments panel.
