The ability to work at a much larger scale should come as no surprise. It’s about its size, it’s about being able to hold more memory, it’s that it has so many tools on one screen that in my hands, it’s like getting a mini Mac. And that’s something I think worth being excited about.
The best part, though, is that everything is built for sharing. In other words, it’s focused on the process of creation, as opposed to being an isolated moment in time. It’s no longer about just the image. You’re using Photoshop Elements to create a keepsake.
So, is Adobe Photoshop Elements perfect? I’m absolutely sure that it’s not. However, I have to say that it’s actually one of the best photo editing programs on the market, and it’s certainly not the worst. I’d give it five stars if I could.
The price is another matter. For such a rich, feature-rich photo editing program, it’s a little excessive, especially compared to products like Serif PhotoPlus and Altavista. You get the basics when it comes to editing, yet the program does provide helpful features. But, as fun as using it is, it’s still not cheap.
If you’re looking for something simple to use and all you want to focus on is getting a gorgeous looking image from a single photo, which ultimately is how it’s used on the web, this is the program for you. However, if you want a program that gives it all but will allow you to really add a lot more, I’d recommend that you move on out to the next program. If you are looking for a simple design program with a basic set of features that is worth its money, I’d recommend that you check out Adobe.
With the release of Photoshop 97 on Oct. 16, 1996, Apple’s Lisa and Macintosh computers finally had a version of Photoshop for Windows. (And we were lucky to be among the first about 120 people to buy a copy.) But to use Photoshop on a PC, you couldn’t drag and drop or cut or paste files into a Photoshop document.
