Then, you need to export the file or convert it to other file types. Then, you can premiere the file in Premiere Pro and play the video back in the timeline to make changes. Additionally, you may run into issues when using Lightroom on the latest iPad Pro, as I did during my review period. While Guillemin and Scott (2015) argued that software would be better on the smaller display, I found navigating the program was fine on a 10.5-inch display, if not a bit cumbersome. I was able to make some adjustments to Raw files without a problem, but the app only opened one image at a time. Lightroom’s iPhone app definitely shows off exactly how Sharp and well-crafted it is on the Retina display; the same goes for the latest iteration of the iPad app. The Android and Windows apps are better for the extra screen real estate, but they still are not perfect.
While Lightroom uses the same mobile apps as Photoshop Sketch, the two are not truly compatible. Editing in Photoshop Sketch prior to viewing the image in Lightroom would result in all the text properties being lost, even if you cropped an area that had been protected in Photoshop.
So, if you’re going to rely on your laptop or desktop computer the most, you’d be better off just using Photoshop. If you want to have the best of both worlds and edit content on mobile devices as well, you can, using Lightroom and Photoshop Sketch. Just be careful of the possible time sinks it can create, if you don’t get into a flow after using Photoshop for a while.
I’m not sure that this is a flaw in Lightroom’s design, but it can send a user into a number of directions with no clear path to the intended goal. One feature I’d like to see added to Lightroom is an option to upload directly to Lightroom from mobile devices when in the mobile Lightroom app.
