I have two tables in my Postgres database:
Table A has a field “primary_id” and “description”
Table B has a field “product_id”
Now I have created a link between the two tables using “product_id”
So the field “primary_id” in Table A is now redundant now.
How to restrict users to access only the “product_id” field and nothing else in the database?
For example:
product_id is a unique value, so I can’t create a second row with the same product_id
I can’t remove the primary_id column because the link has already been created and to delete the link I need to know which “primary_id” value I have to delete.

I know that I can create a unique constraint, but it’s not the solution that I am looking for. I am looking for a way to simply hide the primary_id column from my users.

There are two ways to do this.
You could add the primary_id column to table B and create a view that combines both tables.
