adobe’s chromakey technology uses a special video camera and then encodes the image into a format that can be used in conjunction with photoshop or other editing programs. the great thing about chromakey is that it is extremely easy to use. you drag a selection to indicate the area of the image you want to remove and it goes away. it’s perfect for removing backgrounds.

with the newest update to adobe’s photoshop software, primatte chromakey is no longer just an option in photoshop, it’s a standard function. you can create and save a chromakey preset and use it with all of your projects. this means your photographers can use primatte to take on projects that previously required a lot of labor, for example eliminating a background or removing hats from a portrait. it’s a great feature and will make your work much more efficient. on the other hand, it does come with a price. you’ll pay for your presets with a premium price. i would say it’s worth the extra cash for the convenience and time savings it provides.
