  With the release of The Power of the Elden Ring, the 2nd season of D&D Exalted, we found ourselves in a position where we had to tackle several design and content issues. We had a clear vision for where we wanted to take the game, but this required us to make some changes to the core book itself.

  An important part of these changes was to remove the requirement for the player to keep track of a campaign for an entire year in order to build a campaign. Instead, we introduced a new GM screen with content organized by the major themes in the Elden Ring setting. These are the myths and legends of the Elden Ring.

  Every Myth and Legend created here is created from a short narrative that typically sticks to a few pages, unlike the lengthy legendary systems of the past. This way, we get to tell shorter stories that are easy to access for new players but also give a bit of a glimpse into the rich world. Along with the GM screen, this content is readily available at almost every chapter where we have something interesting to tell you.

  Power of the Elden Ring Core book:

  These changes were made in the core book because we felt that if we separated the material into bite-sized pieces, that would make it so players wouldn’t feel pushed to write in the campaign book as much, and so we wouldn’t feel so much pressure to release a book every month. We wanted a more modular structure that was easier to work with, and we felt that this made sense for the setting.

  One of the other changes we made was the introduction of a new Setting Book.

  The focus of this book is to serve as a supplement to the core book that has all of the rules for dealing with different aspects of the Elden Ring. The book will feature content about campaign locations, characters, and NPCs, as well as some information on history and lore. This book will be published at the same time as the core book with the intention of being a companion to it. We’d love to hear your feedback on the new book design.
