for longtime fans of the series, soulcalibur vi offers a few new surprises and plenty of nostalgia. the game’s cast of characters includes characters from previous installments, like carl, nightmare, and ivy, and a few that are brand new, such as light, cervantes de leon, and kokonoe. as you’d expect from a soulcalibur game, the roster of characters includes a lot of fan favorites, from the evil fujin, the demigod siegfried, and the angelic elena to the hard-hitting leon and the noble dante. the game also has a few new characters, and some that have been missing for years, like beat, kurt, and zasalamel.
the series is often criticized for its lack of female characters. but soulcalibur vi goes out of its way to include a plethora of them. the game has 14 women, in addition to carl, siegfried, and dante. and since women are just as good as men, there are plenty of opportunities to play as them, as well. you’ll even get to choose your own gender when creating your character.
soul calibur vi is a complete package in every way. it’s the best new soul calibur yet, and something that fans of the series should check out if they’re looking for a new game. the only possible problem is that the unlockable costumes and special attacks are a little underwhelming. the base game costs $59.99, but the gold edition has some extra goodies and is $74.99. either way, if you’re looking for something new in the soul calibur series, soul calibur vi is a great place to start.
