If your app wants to trigger some kind of action on a user interface, it will go to the framework’s Activity Manager component and request a user input. If the Activity Manager determines that the system supports the necessary interaction, it’ll pop a dialog box asking the user what to do.
For example, the Gmail app will want to know that someone has received a new message. It uses an Intent with the following Action:
