the main reason hitman: absolution fails is because it is trying to be too many things. its a game about a contract killer, a game about a prison break, a game about a stealth game, a game about a video game, a game about a prequel, and a game about a comic book. none of those things are interesting, and while the sub-plots are more successful individually, they also cause absolution to be a mess. it wants to be a good game, but it fails to be a good game.

the game has a bit of a problem in the story department. it is very loosely based on the comic book hitman: contracts, but it introduces a bunch of new characters and their motivations. its hard to tell what’s going on because the story has no real continuity and there are a bunch of different plots running at once. but this is not really a problem, because the game has no real story. the game has a bunch of missions. the main character is a criminal, but he has no motivation or goals. he just does stuff for other people and they pay him for it.

the missions are very linear, and they are always the same. you are dropped into a mission, you talk to a contact, you complete the mission, you get a reward, you get a new contract. this is how hitman games have always worked, and absolution is no exception.

the other problem is that the game has no replay value. hitman absolution has no memory save, so if you have already completed a mission, you can’t go back to it. if you die, you need to start the mission all over again.

the missions are mostly worthless. they are designed so that you can kill a target from any position in a small room. this is the kind of thing that you can do in a normal mission in most hitman games, but absolution overdoes it. most missions have a pair of ‘precision’ targets. you have to stay in a corner for the entire mission, but you can shoot them from any position.

Hitman Absolution is a huge stealth/action game full of challenges. 
While it is often compared to the Hitman 2 series, it does have many similarities with Contracts and Blood Money. The game features a huge open map with lots of options available to the player. 
The game might be a little difficult to learn at the beginning, but should be more than able to keep you entertained.
