The only real similarityJetsnGunsshares with your standard console shooter is the viewpoint, and trying to play it anything like your typical shooter will only lead to a horrible, flaming demise. Enemies swarm the screen by the dozens, spraying so many bullets and missiles that you couldnt possibly have any chance of avoiding all of them. Thankfully, however, you dont actually have to. The first major difference betweenJetsnGunsand most other console/arcade shooters is that you have a life bar, and you ARE going to need it.
NOTICE: This game is already pre-installed for you, meaning you dont have to install it. If you get any missing dll errors, make sure to look for a _Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install directx, vcredist and all other programs in that folder. You need these programs for the game to run. Look for a HOW TO RUN GAME!!.txt file for more help. Also, be sure to right click the exe and always select Run as administrator if youre having problems saving the game. After playing Goodbye Deponia, I had to try Deponia Doomsday. It’s very similar to the previous game although I find that 2 main aspects set it apart. First, the story is incredibly mind-bending as it’s full of time loops, alternate timelines, and time travel. It admittedly confused me but in a way that made me want to dive deeper and understand it all. Thankfully, the sense of humour ties everything together nicely so even when you’re confused, you’ll still find enjoyment in the unfolding events. Anyway, the other aspect that’s quite different is that many of its puzzles are too perplexing to figure out. I felt that most of the ones in Goodbye Deponia were well done but Deponia Doomsday had me resort to using a guide more than I would have liked to. It’s still an excellent adventure game, though.
On the down side, the game is a little frustrating since the ship will automatically shoot enemy bullets whenever you’re on the ground. If you accidentally fire the missiles while hurtling through space, the ship will suffer huge damage and even crash if you have no weapons equipped. Overall, I feel like it’s a pretty solid shooter and I’m hoping to see a sequel in the future.
But what I love most about this game is its feeling of surrealism. I like it when a game doesn’t take itself too seriously and gives us a small glimpse of what the human psyche would be like. For example, the evil dude in the game goes off the deep end and decides to sacrifice all of humanity to create all evil, thus forming a tower that everyone on earth must climb to make it to the clouds. I think it’s a pretty cool game.
The game also has a pretty good replay value. While it takes anywhere from 3 to 7 hours to finish, at least one person on all of the playthroughs that I’ve experienced can get through the game in less than 5 hours. The game has a lot of end-game content. Basically, you’ll unlock a lot of stuff after beating the game for a second time.
While it feels like you’re playing some classic 8 bit shooter, there’s a lot of other elements at play here. The game’s not really a shmup – it’s more of a hybrid of genres. It’s a mix of such things as: standard shooters, adventure games, platformers, puzzles, and a few other things. As for the puzzles, they are the best ones in the genre. They’re really well-designed and clever, and I really liked the few that I’ve done.
