Kitab akh Nasser Ibn Najam The 16 chapters of this book cover the basic principles of Fatwa – Proof, Logic and Jurisprudence. It is a comprehensive work that every person should read if they wish to serve Islam – even non-Muslims. Chapter 1 – Belief: Existence of God A book must start with the belief of the book’s author, and Nasser Ibn Najam starts with the common belief of Allah (swt), believing Allah (swt) to be omnipotent and merciful. With these basic beliefs you can accept any book without judgement – whether it is a book written by a person or a book from Allah (swt). Even if it conflicts with the things you were taught. You will be amazed at the level of confidence and aplomb with which Nasser Ibn Najam writes. ‘Man is a great entity as a servant to Allah (swt)’ – He begins with this before writing the provenance of man to Allah (swt) in Islam, the past lives, evil deeds and the consequences for sinful deeds, and in the next section of the book he writes about the attributes of Allah (swt) in describing Him, and how the Quran is the final source for all the attributes of Allah (swt). Chapter 2 – The Angel Gabriel: The angel Gabriel was sent to Prophet Mohammad (saws) by Allah (swt) when he was supposed to be secluded. He spoke to Prophet Mohammad (saws) of a message from Allah (swt), and the Prophet (saws) asked for the signs of the Quran – and they were revealed. Part of the revelation was to inspire and convince, and when the prophet (saws) did not submit to Allah (swt) and ended his time on earth, Gabriel (agel, the angel) did not return, and Muhammad (saws) became the Seal of the Prophets. Chapter 3 – Prayer A time in which to pray is a time in which man can please Allah (swt) as man is unable to please God (swt) perfectly. The reward of prayer is one of the Five Pillars. Chapter 4 – The Full Moon on Monday: Al-Hajjul-Ijmahi – This chapter is about the reality of the tawheed of Allah (swt) i.e. the Oneness of Allah (swt) with no intermediaries – is the hukumak makna of this book. It is the hukumak makna of all the books of fatwa as well as of the Quran. Chapter 5 – A Claim of Consequence: Analogy is the basis for all debate and discussion, but there has to be a consequence to the claim made, and that is the aim of this book. This chapter starts off with an example of a fabricated story, and goes on to explain the consequences of the fabricated story – it has to end with the death of the character. This chapter shows, as does the rest of the book, the directness and frankness of the author. Chapter 6 – Proof and Belief: Al-Ta’awud wa al-Waqiha: This chapter starts with the idea that Allah (swt) exists and that He (swt) is the best which means Allah (swt) is the best of agents, and Allah (swt) is the best of plans, Allah (swt) is the best of consequences, and finally that Allah (swt) is the best of circumstances. This is all the basis that a book has to have, as well as the basis that people have to understand Islamic faith.
