The purpose of the program is to let you work on portions of an image in a similar fashion as you would work on a film negative, just like a professional photofinisher would do for a portrait.
The program allows you to define areas in an image that should be sharpened, while saving other parts as blurred. You can draw the area(s) that you wish to have sharpened by dragging a box on a selected area. This section of the image would then undergo a series of settings until you are happy with the results.
In addition to the bold box feature, the program offers a wide range of tools to let you control the sharpness. The tools include the Auto Edge (where you can select one of the eight preset sharpening edges), the Basic, Normal, Fine, Normal, and Soft Sharpening options, and the Black and White (regular and High Contrast) mode.
When you first launch the program, it lets you know that you do not have enough memory available to import the entire image into the program. If your computer meets the minimum requirements (1GB of RAM and 500MB of free hard-disk space), then you need not worry.
The program runs smoothly and you can work with as many images as you want. Importing the image is a very simple process as you need only add it to a list, and then select the desired sharpening tool to work on. You should note that the program does not allow you to work on photos in batch.
You can also define areas for turning the image into grayscale, as well as further enhancing the image. The program allows you to define five levels of color for creating sharpened and blurred effects. To start working, simply click on the photo, and you are taken to a neat interface where you can see the results of the process. The main advantage of the program is that you can adjust the settings on the fly and see the results as you go.
