every year, popular tv stations in pakistan organise the karachi literature festival to bring out the best of their future generation. for the past nine years, a grand function has been organised by the ptv. and every year, a man with an outstanding personality who embodies the spirit of poetry, literature and music, is the star of the whole show.

this year, the star was masroor anwar. the presence of such a personality all of a sudden made the festival interesting. the event was held at a community centre at the hydari school here on saturday.

it was a delightful and informal affair. we spoke to the poet imdad husain about his experiences at the karachi literature festival. on the occasion, it was announced that masroor anwar would be creating the content for the ptv film “kasoor”.

imdad husain was indeed happy to see the ptv organising such literary events. he said that he had met the poet masroor anwar three or four years ago, at the karachi lit fest. masroor anwar, he said, has always been associated with music and film.

iftikhar arif, the poet, said he had met masroor anwar at a reading function. he told him that he should go ahead with the content of the tv programme, “kasoor”. as far as he knows, the poet will be making the movie.
