I installed USB Capture and tried to capture an external USB drive, but the capture failed.
Problem:
I ran the capture and it said “Found USB device but capture failed. Reason: Failed to read from ‘X:’, the specified device cannot be read.”
I checked the properties of the USB device and its entry in the Device Manager says the following. “The drive is not currently connected. (Code 10)”
I was wondering if it was possible to solve this problem and transfer a file to my USB drive? I attempted this solution using the Windows Disk Cleanup Utility but that didn’t work either.
Solution:
My solution in this situation was to take a photo of the USB drive using my iPhone. I then used the Windows 7 Disk Defragmenter (run as administrator) and was able to defragment the drive and copy the contents to a new external USB drive.
