Omnes is a modern and unique contemporary sans serif font that features a robust character set and a wide variety of thickness. It has a modern yet retro feel that is best for any kind of display. Omnes is produced by Estuary Type, a Manchester type foundry, who also produce the popular Emblem series. Prior to Omnes, the well respected Emblems in various weights and styles have been the firm’s bread and butter. Estuary Type co-founder, John Binns, has taken Balthazar Bold as his personal project, having been commissioned by type designer Joshua Darden to personally develop a bold slab serif revival for Geez. A crucial decision was the demand for a style of the Omnes range that had a familiar, but more modern feel. For example, the more simplistic versions of Balthazar Bold have a tangible sense of weight and formality to them, whilst retaining the personal presence the family is so well known for. That being said, Balthazar Bold shares a similar visual weight, structure and visual balance with the other members of the Omnes family. The aim was to take a slab serif revival, and make it unique and modern whilst retaining the link to its heritage. These cross-merged so perfectly that the result is a family that is both bold and grand, and could be used both in print and on screen alike.
The OTR Gradation family is Wolt’s first foray into script fonts. Designed by Thomas Dale, the fonts have been released in six weights; Regular, Thin, Extra Thin, Ultra Thin, Black and Ultra Black. The families have been designed with a timeless quality from the onset. The family is built from an odd combination of Gregorian and Indian script, which creates a modern feel whilst retaining the authenticity of Old Script. Different from other Old Script, however, OTR Gradation operates more like a serif font, meaning that the value contrast on the serifs changes with the weight, rather than a sloped top and bottom on the serifs as is seen in Indian and Gregorian Script. They are available as OpenType forms and PostScript layouts.
