Creating a new document
Photoshop Elements lets you create images in two ways. You can either open an existing document, or start from scratch.
Open an existing file
If you’ve been editing a photo in Photoshop, then you can save it with a new filename and open it in Photoshop Elements. To do this, click File, Open, and then choose the file you want to open.
You’ll now be presented with a new window with your photo in it. After that, you’ll be able to go through the rest of the basic editing steps in Photoshop Elements.
Start from scratch
Photoshop Elements has a built-in “New Photo” feature, which is great if you’ve been using Lightroom or your camera to create the image you want. It will even recognize images inside of Lightroom, so you can export them into Photoshop Elements and create a new document from scratch.
The “New Photo” process works a little differently in Photoshop Elements than it does in Photoshop.
First, start by clicking the File menu, and then choose New. Now, you should see the “New Photo” option at the bottom of your screen.
Next, you’ll see a list of compatible media that you can import. You can choose from RAW files, JPG, PNG, and other file types. Finally, you can also choose a color mode. After selecting a color mode, you’ll see a list of other properties for your photo, like resolution, saturation, and more.
If you don’t see the “New Photo” option, then you can go to the menu bar, click File, and choose “New Photo.”
As far as where your photo will end up, it’s a bit more limited compared to Photoshop. You can’t do the same tricks Photoshop does to move and manipulate the image. However, you can rotate, crop, resample, and

The Official Black Suede Shoes Thread
This is our thread for discussing the various colors and styles of the official Black Suede shoes worn by the main cast during the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Other than what they wore inside the Manehattan Mall or on the Manehattan Bridge in the first episode, none of these characters were present for the majority of the series, and we are not here to discuss these lesser characters.
What’s your favorite color and what’s your favorite style? I don’t know what’s a good match for the red stripes of my MLP t-shirt, but I’ll take a shot at it, though obviously no official team logos:
Orange/Yellow/Green/DarkBlue/lightBlue
No official logos, but there’s an official bling from the first book with special badges:
Orange: The “standard” color, originally a Florida Marlins hat-trick, sometimes displayed by the Paladins.
Teal: Another team color, originally a Detroit Tigers hat-trick, sometimes displayed by the Paladins.
Yellow: Apparently, a color associated with rainbows.
Green: Originally a California Angels hat-trick.
DarkBlue: Depicts a hotel and not a “badge” per se, but the colour is more popular than official logos.
lightBlue: Another color associated with rainbows.
All the above can be seen in-between missions in Bridal Boutique, minus the badges.
(Not to mention some of the other colors you can see in the background in some promotional material)
No official logos?
Maybe they did and they just didn’t display them?
Or maybe they did, and they did but didn’t want to make too much of it?
I don’t see why Rainbow Dash couldn’t make her own emblem – she was a champion after all. I think it’s important that we don’t over-indulge in this gimmick. Why should my favorite pony wear a specific insignia?
As for the official logo, I was much more happy to see Rainbow Dash on

Brushes
Brushes are used for applying a variety of stylized effects to images. The most common brushes are Brush Tip, Stencil, Scratch, Stroke and several other single-stroke and multistroke brushes.
Brushes differ in the size, opacity, color and type of brush. Brushes can also be grouped and applied in layers.
Brushes can be found in the Brush toolbox and are usually used to texture an image, burn an image, or apply effects.
You can also apply textures in Photoshop. This helps add a “hand-drawn” effect to an image.
Using a variety of brush tips, such as ink, airbrush, scribe, script, and pattern, you can add effects, strokes, and shading.
Brush Tip
A Brush Tip is a brush with a small circular rubber tip. Brushes with a flat blade are often referred to as linears. Brush Tip can be used to create many different effects such as highlights, shadows, or blurred brush strokes.
Stencil
A Stencil is a translucent layer that contains paths. The stencil layer helps you turn the paths into shapes.
The stencil layer can be used to mask areas of an image. You can create a stencil using the Pen tool.
Stroke
Stroke is a term used to describe the brush used to paint or stroke an image. Strokes can be used to create many effects such as a pencil sketch or line drawing.
You can apply a stroke to single or multiple layers, as well as to images themselves.
Pen
Pen can be used to sketch or paint images. To use the Pen tool, press P on your keyboard. The Pen tool creates a line in the current layer. You can make a freehand line or create a path using the Pen tool. A path can also be created using the Direct Selection tool (A).
Brush Size and Opacity
The size of the brush and the opacity (transparency) of the brush determine the effect it will have. For example, the smaller the brush the more detailed the effect.
The opacity you apply also affects how the brush strokes blend with the original image. More opacity will make the brush strokes blend more with the surrounding pixels.
