when i was recording, i didnt think that it would be a full-length. but then the idea of making a full album seemed natural to me, and i decided to do it. so i just did it. if i had to make a decision, i wanted to make the album with no conflicts. i think that the album is very meaningful because i put my soul into it. i think that its more meaningful than if i had kept my vocals and put the music on it. thats why i focused on the music and was very meticulous about the music. you know, the [album cover] image, the concept, all of it came together and thats why theres a song like i can feel it and youre the only one, which are very different from the rest of the songs. if i had to make a decision, i think i could have made songs that i have done before and still kept the same sound. but i didnt want to. i wanted to make something different, and i think that the fact that it was a full album made it more meaningful. i really wanted to show my different side.
i think that the album will be liked. i think the whole album is very meaningful. but i do not think that it will be liked by everyone. i have nothing against it. i think that it will be liked by the people who are enjoying my music, or who enjoy my music, and i think that theyll be able to understand it. the album is about a place where i want to go.
i made this album without any help, and i did everything. i think that my energy was very strong, and i was able to complete everything. its very valuable because this was the first time for me to show my individuality, and i think that its important for people to see that. if i had to make a decision, i think i could have made the songs that i have done before. i made this album for my fans, and i think that its very meaningful. i think that they will be able to understand my music in a different way. i hope that people who listen to the song will be able to like it, and i hope that the people who listen to it will also be able to connect to it.
but that is exactly the point. in an interview with a fan in 2017, ray j said, i really think its just a way to get attention. i think the world is trying to understand what i do and what i have done. no matter how you live, no matter what kind of music you make, people are always trying to figure out what you have done. theres no way that i can live my life and have a career and not want people to know what i have done. its more than just that i want people to know, its really that i feel like im showing them my real life, and they know that im human. i know that my music sometimes seems like i am being so anti-gay, but thats just me being me. im just trying to show people the real me. so thats what i want people to think of me.
the real ray j, though, is an extremely different person. theres no hint of the introverted, overly-shy persona that he showed to the public while with bts. i think that the worst part of this album is that ray j is not being himself. its the total opposite of what he promised. when he said that the album would be more sincere, he didnt mean that hes been so shy and awkward with fans that hes been having to hide his true self. its more than just that hes been lying about what hes been doing and saying. it feels like hes lost his way and is trying to fake being a different person.
the songs on this album are generic r&b/rap songs, and the only thing that saves them is that ray j is singing. this isnt a bad album, it isnt terrible. there are some really good songs on it, but theres not a lot of substance to it.
you said that people dont listen to your album because theyre afraid to. do you think that itll be a hit or not?ive been in the music business for a long time. people say that your music isnt good, and its an album, then they think its not going to be a hit. i understand that. i want to change that. with this album, i want to show people that ray j isnt just about the money, its about me as an artist, too.
