The Legend of Heroes: Ties of the Feather and Bone Review
The Legend of Heroes: Ties of the Feather and Bone is a visual novel/RPG hybrid developed by Vanillaware that sees two star-crossed lovers, Alise and Basch, embark on an adventure together, the events of which culminate in the inevitable reunification of the two of them. A seemingly simple enough plotline, and it largely is, when you break it down. There is no combat, for example, which makes character interaction and investigation a much more worthwhile aspect of the game.
This particular spin-off takes place in the Lands Between, and focuses on Alise and Basch, who are searching for objects of power that will allow them to call upon their powers, which are only available to full Elden Lords. A side character, Dalade, and the mysterious land of Graceda, are involved in Alise’s search. Throughout, the progression of the story follows a visual novel format, with the player reading the narrative text at the bottom of each screen, and focusing on the characters’ responses to these questions at the top of the screen.
The text is in an English language and the voice acting in-game is also in English. The game will be available on Vita in Europe, the US and Australia, as well as PS3 and PC in the west. A PS3 port of the game has also been announced for North America.
