I feel like this is a simple question but I can’t seem to find the answer and please be gentle because this is my first question. I’m basically being asked to make a basic program that prompts the user to type what they would like to do, and then a menu based on the input. For example, they can ask to add, subtract, divide, multiply, or I can ask them to quit.
I’m supposed to use a switch case and I have created one. I cannot set my “start” switch case to the specific cases because the cases are organized like this.

My question is if I wanted to convert this to a switch statement, would I do something like this?

The problem I have with your code is that when you make a switch statement like you described, it will only cover one case. So if you have a situation where you need more than one case, I would suggest going back to your original try-catch-finally block.
For example, let’s say I have a situation where I’m going to run a very long-running process (like a very important piece of data that I only want to run once per program run). I don’t want the user to cancel it during run time. My solution is to throw an Exception.
