The missing feature that bothers me the most is the lack of direct access to the functionality of the older version. As I said before, they could have just took away a few confusing features and left enough for the new version. I will give Lightroom 5 a try, but then I still have my darkroom and my camera.

First and foremost, this is not an update review. The new version is too buggy to report on. I had a number of problems with import of files greater than 5GB. Lightroom 5 will import a 100GB file as a 61 GB file. At that point, my hard drive is busy duplicating files and the import time becomes crazy. I had some problems with the Macintosh version of the program, but the developer seems to have addressed all issues. I had a fair amount of problems opening files on Windows 7. Possibly this particular issue would have been fixed. I have different resolutions for a number of formats. I am changing my Windows Display settings each time I open Lightroom. I use one resolution for smaller files and a different one for the larger files. The final problem is a more minor one, but not as minor as the others: sometimes I want the images to live in a particular folder, sometimes not. Lightroom 5 does not appear to have that option.
